Day 4

Game: Skyrim
Level: 23
Location: Ilinata's Deep

So, let's recap ... I completed that dungeon, and by the end the only ghost left was Savos Aren, but either way I got the Staff of Magnus. Headed back to the college, saved the day, kicked Ancano's ass, et cetera et cetera ... And then, weeeiiirdness, they made me Arch Mage! I guess with Savos and Mirabelle gone, it worked out, but, you know, still. Weird.

Anyway, I'm Arch Mage now, but still going out on missions which feels irresponsible. Oh well - I'm now in Ilinata's Deep to find Azura's star! Neverending soul gem, whoo!

Down into the depths I go. There is a fisherman sort of ... strung up, like a sacrifice, very much looking on-the-cross in his pose. Heading down further, One skeleton and four mages, so this isn't going to go smoothly. Eww, they were necromancers. Oh, a human heart, how delightful. **shudders**

Mmm, skulls on spikes. Y'all are classy, real classy. Advanced Necromancer, now you have an arrow in the face! HA! A small chest in the water, down a passage, but nothing fancy. So ... the game is fairly convinced I'm fighting a Master Necromancer right now - I've got fight music and shouts of "I knew I'd find you!" but ... ah ... no damage. So I'm just looting till I run across her. Lots of fun potions though! Awww, snarky bitch killed me. Ha, now you're dead.

Oh. Cupboard full of skeletons. That's lovely.

Hm. I missed something. I'm back to where I shot that guy in the face with an arrow. Backtracking, looking for doors. Oh, wait, this is the upper level. Continuing on, there is someone talking about the star ... and very nearly kicking my ass! Stop healing yourself and sending skeletons after me, blah! Well, I guess is makes sense ... cause I guess he was the boss! Hello, Azura's star ... hello, uh, not-very-interesting loot. So, now I have a choice. I can bring the star to the disciple of Azura, or the Mage who studies stars. I believe I'll take it to the disciple, since having a direct line to the daedra will more likely lead to its restoration.

Ooo, now Azura is talking to me. Apparently, I have to go into it and banish Malen's soul from it. Sounds creepy. I entered the star and fought off some creatures that Malen conjured - two of them had Daedra hearts on them - and then took out Malen. Now I have the star! Off to help another god - it's Meridia's temple next!

So, after returning her beacon, she directed me directly below to her temple, which is sounds like has been taken over by a necromancer. My favorite, bleh. Here I go.

There's black smoke everywhere, as well as desecrated corpses. I activated a pedestal, which directed Meridia's light deeper into the temple. Lots of shades - like, mini black ghosts. Fire and backing up seem to do a great job of leaving me largely unscathed. This dungeon's favorite trick seems to be to put lame treasure chests behind gates, and the lever to open said gate behind a way-too-difficult-for-the-reward locked door. On to the ... balcony? Around the outside and back into the ruins. Man, for gods, these daedra sure do need a lot of help with simple tasks.

Got a little lost, so I used my clairvoyance ... which is taking me to a door which requires a key. Hrm. Clairvoyance was wrong - I still had one more pedestal to activate, up at the top floor, so I backtracked, did that, and now into the Kilkreath Catacombs!

AAAUUGGGHHH. Took out like 5 of those shade things, restored my health and stamina fully, and that guy Malkoran took me out in like 2 hits! BLERGH.

WHEW. Finally. Now for some lootin'. Crimony, there are a LOT of desecrated corpses. Got Dawnbreaker! Meridia is quite happy with me.

Now, for the rescue mission for the Companions! Let's see what we have here. Lost Echo Cave. Lots of glowing mushrooms ... I hope there are undead so that I can practice with my Dawnbreaker! It's very foggy ... no baddies yet. I think I hear skittering though, which probably means chaurus and falmer. Ooo, Level up! It seems a humble king was buried here ...

Ugh, Falmer it is. I found the girl I'm looking for, but falmer keep dropping from the ceiling ... it's very obnoxious.

Ugh, now I killed her. Like, half a shot of flames. Stay out of the way! Grar. And then accidentally saved over, so now I have to go back to Meridia's quest if I don't want her dead. CRAAAAAP.

And this, dear readers, is where you realize that yes, I am new to this and terrible at it.

So, back to Meridia's boss fight. After which I will save, go home, and get a metric ton more healing potions.

Anyway, with this dose of hubris, I leave you. Till next time, fair readers.
